Winter 2007 Writing Contest

Think about the effects of global warming today.  The changes may not be so noticeable now, maybe just an inch or two of growth in the sea levels, and a slight change in temperature.  Yet years from now, the whole planet and everything on it will be affected.  Who knows what the possibilities may be if these harmful effects are not tended to…

This semester, YouthInkwell is hosting—

"A Year Without A Winter"

Writing Contest!

The requirements for the contest entail that the story be 500 words or less and take place in the future in a world where winter does not exist.  This story must be written by students grades 3-12 and can be of the science fiction genre, suspense, or even memoir (i.e. the author places themselves as the narrator in the future).  While participants are not required to type their submissions, please keep in mind the importance of having a neat presentation.

Entries must be received no later than

Friday, February 9th, 2007.

Any entries received after this date will not be considered.

Please mail entries to:

YouthInkwell Writing Studio
155 S. El Molino Ave., Suite 102
Pasadena, CA 91101

Two first place winners will receive a $1000 scholarship to YouthInkwell Writing Studio.  Two runner-up recipients will receive a $500 scholarship to YouthInkwell Writing Studio.

If you would like to hear more information about this contest, please contact us (626) 449-6884 or email us.

Good luck!
